Region: Gisborne Overview: Te Kaunihera o Te Tairawhiti | Gisborne District Council is seeking experienced contractors to deliver the Waipaoa Stopbanks Improvements 2025/26, part of the wider Waipaoa Flood Control Scheme climate change resilience programme. This project involves raising and widening approximately 6 km of stopbanks and stabilising the Waipaoa Main Drain outlet, with 160,000 m³ of earthworks sourced from designated borrow areas. It aims to enhance flood protection, improve infrastructure resilience, and align with recently upgraded sections of the scheme. The works also provide opportunities for subcontracting across drainage, fencing, and environmental management, with a strong preference for engaging local businesses. We are seeking a lead contractor with the capability, capacity, and experience to deliver a complex flood protection upgrade under a Measure and Value contract.
