Notice of Information (Advance Notice) (NOI) for Tauranga Sh2/Hewletts Road Sub-Area Access Improvements, Professional Services Open Date: Wednesday, 1 December 2021 8:30 AM (Pacific/Auckland UTC+13:00) Close Date: Friday, 28 January 2022 4:00 PM (Pacific/Auckland UTC+13:00) Tender Type: Notice of Information (Advance Notice) (NOI) Tender Coverage: Sole Agency Regions: Bay of Plenty Required Pre-qualifications: None Overview: Advance Notice: Tauranga State Highway 2 / Hewletts Road sub-area access improvements Professional Services Waka Kotahi wishes to advise interested parties of its intention to openly tender for a highly experienced and competent professional services team (the Consultant) to undertake and complete an indicative business case (IBC) for Tauranga State Highway 2 (SH2)/Hewletts Road Improvement Project (the Project). The contract will involve identifying and investigating an optimal suite of transport (state highway and local roads), land use, and regulatory interventions that will support multi-modal accessibility and throughput, and future land use change/ development within the western Bay of Plenty eastern corridor. At its discretion, Waka Kotahi reserves the right to negotiate with the Consultant for professional services for the subsequent business case phases and/or project delivery. SH2/Hewletts Rd is a nationally strategic corridor and is one of three current journeys between the two sides of the Tauranga Harbour. The corridor has multiple and often competing functions, including: • Providing access to Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, and eastern communities within western Bay of Plenty (WBOP) • Providing access to several community facilities such as sport and recreational facilities • Providing freight access to the Mount Maunganui side of the Port of Tauranga and the Mount Maunganui industrial area which also includes the airport and other key commercial activities With significant traffic volumes using SH2/ Hewletts Rd and further growth expected in the eastern corridor identifying the suite of multimodal interventions will be critical. Collaborating and working with partners, tangata whenua, and key stakeholders will be significant aspects of the project. Key dates for the RFP - Waka Kotahi expects to release the RFP documentation on GETS after Wellington Anniversary (24 January 2022), with the tender closing 5-6 weeks after.
