The aim of this project is to help us understand individual drinking water consumption, current percentage of water loss and issues around its calculation, and provide surety around backflow prevention. This information is essential in upholding the principles of Te Mana o te Wai and continuing our compliance with the Canterbury Regional Water Management Strategy. In order to gain the necessary data, we need to install water meters to measure the throughput on a ‘per connection- basis. To do this, we will need to upgrade many existing Tobies and we may need to be prepared for unexpected findings when this occurs. WDC has an estimated 1,956 urban water connections
